About the BASS

The BASS, or Basic Speech Screener (BASS) research project is managed by the Ages and Stages International Research Group (ASIR). ASIR conducts research projects associated with revisions of the Ages & Stages Questionnaires® system, the most widely used developmental screener in the world.

The ASQ screening system targets important motor, communication, cognitive, adaptive, and social-emotional behavior. The BASS was developed to augment the ASQ system by screening for speech sound development in young children.

The BASS is a simple to use, low cost screening measure designed for parents, teachers and childcare providers. This research project is investigating the validity and reliability of the BASS. Thank you for your help!
